A Doukutsu Monogatari (Cave Story) fan fic. Warning: Won't make much sense if you haven't played the game. Will be a bit confusing if you haven't got the secret ending. If you want to read, and haven't played the game, I'll offer some brief summaries here of all that's important. If you've not gotten the secret ending, the relevant information is summarised at the bottom of the description.

*SPOILERS*
Doukutsu Monogatari is a game that takes place on a flying island. You play the hero, a robot who awakens on the island with no memory. (It is later revealed his name is Quote.) The island is inhabited by a race of creatures called Mimigas (Mimiga singular) who are essentially humanoid rabbits. They are peaceful, but eating magical Red Flowers turns them into horrible monsters. The island was created by an old witch called Jenka (who is nice.) A powerful relic on the island called the Demon Crown is coveted by many, and whoever has it gets crazy magic powers and can rule the island. Quote meets up with a similar robot to himself (only female. Her name is Curly Brace) and eventually they destory the Demon Crown and decide to go off and live somewhere quiet with a reformed bad guy Balrog.

Balrog is a giant block-shaped creature who is... not the smartest guy in the world. But he's good deep down. He is controlled by whoever has the Demon Crown, and as such is an antagonist for most of the game.
Misery is Jenka's daughter, she is one of the main antagonists and seems to be an evil witch. She is also controlled by the Demon Crown, though (but this is as punishment, because she was the one who had it made), and that's why she acts evil. How good she is normally is debatable.

*SPOILERS FOR SECRET ENDING*
The main character's name is Quote. He and Curly were dispatched to the island to destroy the Demon Crown once and for all.
The real final boss is called Ballos.
Misery is responsible for the Demon Crown being created (she asked Ballos to make it), but is enslaved by it, as is Balrog.
Curly and Quote succeed in their mission, Misery and Balrog are freed. Balrog rescues Quote and Curly (who are in a sticky situation) and they all fly off the island. They decide (all three of them) to live somewhere quiet.

And the normal Belly Warning: If you don't like pregnancy and suchlike, you should probably leave now (yes, the title is a misdemeanour.)
